Melbourne’s four-storey flagship uniting the worlds of food and fashion
Few buildings hold a city’s memory quite like 280 Little Collins street. Harry Norris’s Art Deco landmark is being restored to its former glory and a shopping and dining destination in its own right.
The heritage architecture has lent itself to the latest adaptation from Rodd & Gunn. While a foray into the food scene isn’t a new move for the New Zealand brand, this latest venture sees the worlds of fashion and food uniting under the one roof, setting the benchmark for integrating retail into the hospitality space.
The Lodge on Little Collins is more than just a shopping destination, it’s a place to meet, drink and dine and come away with a high-quality wardrobe. Each of the four storeys offers a different perspective. Whether it be the cool Italian Wine Bar, the hidden Kiwi-inspired mezzanine bar or the showstopping Dining Room.
The opening of this new flagship cements Rodd & Gunn as not only a refined, modern luxury New Zealand retailer, but as a global lifestyle destination.
Take a metaphorical elevator ride through the four-storey flagship to see the endless food and fashion possibilities.
Rodd & Gunn Cellar and Wine Bar
Steeped in heritage, this subterranean level pays homage to its predecessor, the iconic Coles Cafeteria. With oversized check flooring, exposed ceilings and booth seating, the moody, intimate level is where you can find Italian-inspired classics paired with Rodd & Gunn’s own wine program and the artful cocktail creations within the Cocktail Lab.
The cellar showcases a selection of New Zealand’s finest wines alongside Australian and international growers. Whether you choose to settle in with a glass or take home a bottle, the curated range has been designed as a true celebration of wine.
Rodd & Gunn Retail
The ground floor is a polished statement of intent for Rodd & Gunn. The elegant space pairs cornice plasterwork and marble joinery with modern product displays, elevating your browsing experience.
The Lodge Bar Little Collins
The mezzanine level is a hidden retreat. With Art Deco-inspired motifs, the wood-panelled room offers a discreet, elegant space to enjoy Matt Bax’s curated classic cocktails, tailored with a contemporary twist. Rodd & Gunn loyalty clientele and The Lodge Dining Room guests can relax into the plush chairs and refuel with artfully inspired snacks.
The Lodge Dining Room Little Collins
The top floor is the true pièce de résistance for this iconic flagship. The Lodge Dining Room showcases impressive floor-to-ceiling arched windows with nods to the building’s historic past. Antique mirrors, restored artworks, and original tiled columns set the scene for the indulgent cuisine.
Much like the space itself, the menu is a masterclass in merging classic techniques with modern twists. With a focus on seasonality and seafood, the menu has been designed to adapt. With the likes of house made brioche bread, Great Ocean Road duck and Hiramasa kingfish being the stars of the show.
It’s a philosophy that extends to the whole building — nothing here feels static. The Lodge on Little Collins is the kind of place that rewards return visits.
